NCWO participated in several meetings at the Ministry of Health in discussions pertaining to the health of women. Through these engagements we were able to contribute to the Ministry of Health’s Action Plan for Women’s Health and Action Plan for
the Impact of Violence Against Women.
The roundtable was organised to discuss the experience of COP,the challenges and implications for advocacy. The programme was held in collaboration with UKM’s Tun Fatimah Women’s Leadership Centre. The speakers were Ms Chee Yoke Ling, experienced negotiator on UNFCCC processes and youth representative Adrian Yeo.
NCWO participated in the Regional Workshop on Gender Issues in Climate Change and Its Adaptation on 9-11 June 2015 in Langkawi, Malaysia. The funding for NCWO’s participation was supported by USAID, REDD & Programme Bangkok.
Following the regional workshop in Langkawi, NCWO contributed in the drafting of the ASEAN Gender Guidelines on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation. The document has been received by all member states and is in its final stage of completion.
We participated in this regional meeting held in Bangkok in August 2015. The participation allowed us to incorporate civil society’s inputs and understand points of leverage.
NCWO’s participation as a panelist at the seminar held in October 2015 at Belum was made possible through the Malaysia Environment NGOs(MENGO) network. The funding was supported by ARROW. The discussions looked at legal challenges and judges discretionary/sentencing power.
NCWO also participated as speakers at the PPSEAWA Conference focusing in Women and Environment, held in August 2016 in Kuala Lumpur.
The dialogue looked at impacts of economy on our climate commitments, in light of the issues pertaining to financing mechanisms for climate action and its gendered constituencies.The session was moderated by Prof Dr Sulochana Nair, Vice Chancellor, Binary University and speakers from Third World Network and ARROW.
Kedah NCWO hosted an environmental awareness seminar in October, 2016. We look forward to more volunteers to create more action on specific issues of concerns.
