The Media Committee continues to represent NCWO under the civil society category on the Board of Council Members of Communication & Multimedia Content Forum, Malaysia (CMCF). This year discussions included a review of the CMCF Industry Guidelines for advertisements on slimming products (to take into issues arising from SM today); and a review of the CMCF Code.

In addition, NCWO was re-appointed on the Complaints Committee of CMCF to represent the Civil Society category besides 5 other members, each representing their respective category. NCWO is also an ordinary member of Communications Consumer Forum (CfM); and the media committee has been involved briefly in the Code (GCC) Review.

The website (www.ncwomalaysia.org) is being given a new look and feel. NCWO’s facebook account (National Council of Women’s Organisations) also regularly provides updates on current activities.

mStoryTelling : Women’s Voices on Environment Sustainability

Final Year Public Relations students from the Faculty of Communication & Media Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in collaboration with the National Council of Women’s Organizations (NCWO) organised a forum on 14 December 2015 at NCWO. The objectives of this event was to share personal stories of 40 Malaysia women aged 60 years and above from the b40 section of population, on their efforts in environment conservation and sustainable living. Besides, it is also to create awareness on the implications of environment sustainability on climate change. The students recorded the women’s stories using the mobile phone in several locations in Klang Valley and Selangor among the various ethnic groups.

Wanita Era Digital

Wanita Era Digital is a nationwide outreach to inspire and empower women in Malaysia through greater internet adoption and education on basic internet skills. The programme will be rolled out together with National Council of Women’s Organisations (NCWO), the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia
Commission (MCMC). Wanita Era Digital aims to empower Malaysian women with the internet and digital skills; almost 100 Digizens and counting have volunteered to help make an impact on women across Malaysia.
